Portland Nursery Apple Tasting

It seemed like we did ALL the fun things there were to do around Portland last fall, but somehow we missed a few gems. Take, for example, the Portland Nursery Apple Tasting event. It was a two-weekend affair that featured a multitude of children's activities, apple and pear sampling (who knew there were SO many varieties of apples and pears grown right here in Oregon?), and live music set amidst the lovely backdrop of the Portland Nursery.

Some of the highlights included making pine cone bird/squirrel feeders:

... and painting mini-pumpkins:

While waiting in line to sample the apples, Geege spotted this HUGE terra cotta pumpkin compost bin:

... and this very unique scarecrow:

It was a brisk fall day, to say the least. Here's Gracie all bundled up on her wagon:

Grace was really curious about the fancy balloon hats she saw other kids wearing, so we HAD to get her one.

She specifically asked for a flower:

Someone was getting tired:

We can never leave a children's event without a little face paint. Here's Daddy CAT and his little kitten:
